Ken's Journal - Fashion show Crépuscule « in the street » : behind the scene
Once again, we got to take an advantage of the event « Le pique-nique » organized by Association of Faubourg Saint-Germain, for the fashion show on carpets.. but without them this time..
Once again, we take advantage of the picnic of the Association du Faubourg Saint-Germain to organize a runway on carpet... without carpet this time... (The prefecture has forbidden it. Maybe the carpet has become dangerous now ... ? ) So I used orange fabric to make a confetti mat (almost 3 meters of fabric to be cut to make it). Anyway I tried it! The runway went wonderfully well. As described so poetically @catherine.dupon in her instagram story :
Under the lenses
Under the laughter
Under all the astonished glances
From every angle
Under the applause
An extraordinary runway show...just like you!
AFTER THE PARADE
After the craziness of the show, I am challenged by all the photographers "Ken! Ken this way! ».
This is my moment, my moment as a designer.
2 minutes under the applause, a motor for the 6 months to come to prepare the next collection. I think this is where the work of any designer finds its culmination ...
One guest told me: "I'm happy to see this fashion show. I imagine my wife wearing your clothes.
It was a great pleasure for me. It's true, when I was young I dreamed of becoming a famous designer, the ambition of any young stylist. Time goes by, I am now the mother of 3 children, I feel more like a hairdresser (in another life I would have been one) Why?
When you leave the hairdresser's, you feel beautiful, more beautiful than before. I feel the same good feeling. By being a stylist I feel useful. I support my clients, I want to make them chic and modern and show them off like a hairdresser.
"You should do a bigger show, not a small one in the street," I've often been told.
SMALL FASHION SHOW
Small fashion show? Not at all. Every runway in this street is filled with creation, creativity and emotion, and I feel as much joy, confidence and euphoria as those at the Lutetia hotel, W Opéra hotel, Hôtel du Louvre, Place Vendôme, Espace Toyota Champs-Elysées... I love it here, it's my 2nd house, Paris 7th, rive gauche! I feel good there, I feel reassured. The Faubourg Saint-Germain picnic is a real tradition for me. It's French, it's Parisian. It may not be well known yet but it's my blue ocean... I am proud to parade in this " street "... Moreover, 2 days ago Isabelle Marant organized a runway show in the street!
SOME UNEXPECTED EVENTS
There are always unforeseen events
- 8:30 pm the rain falls on us.
It attacks all the decoration, the tablecloths are soaked with water, the benches soaked. My staff worries "maybe we have to cancel the runway? "It is catastrophic! After 20 minutes, the sun comes back to chase away the rain. God is on my side !
- The theme of this show: twilight in the fog.
But this fog creates a lot of conflicts between the atmosphere and the photographers. Kenji had to take care of the fog but we could hear the photographers shouting "Stop the fog!!! ». It's true that without fog the photos are clearer. We finally decided to put back the fog for the final... A twilight without fog !!!
- Last minute. D-2, the Dj I wanted finally answered yes.
Awesome! He put a beautiful atmosphere and I can say it, of all my shows, it's the most beautiful music that could accompany me. Many thanks to Alexandre Maruffy. I was lucky !!!
- Every year there is one person absent, late.
But we always manage to find a solution. This year, Lola, the daughter of one of my clients replaced an absent person, it was wonderful, she is great. I hit the wood, again lucky!
- The actor Olivier Marthé, 1m80 tall, brought with his mask a fantastic atmosphere. A giant centaur !! It's the God who brought it to me !!!
- Being a ballerina is my childhood dream.
It's always a great pleasure to work with ballerinas, whether it's for the star dancers of the Paris Opera, or the ballerinas who walk for me at the hotel Lutetia, or for a shooting with a ballerina at the hotel W Opéra....
This time it's different. She is the ballerina of the neighborhood, a stone's throw from the rue de la Chaise. I'm delighted to have met her. She made my garment so graceful, so poetic, so sensual. Thank you Laurine Ristroph
- The little girls of the neighborhood are always eager to participate in the fashion show.
Great last-minute unexpected. They carry the sign in front of the backstage with the giant centaur. They look like guardian angels. The kids are lucky. Always!!
